Best Low Discharge Batteries Paired With Just a Regular Charger Nov 21, 2009
By Nuknuk The biggest drawback for Nickel Metal Hydride batteries is the shelf life. I got gadgets and toys all around the house, so I constantly charging batteries to have them ready when I need them. There will be very little juice left if you put them in the shelf unused for a couple of months. A waste of time and energy. Hence, one of the biggest advancement in battery technology is the arrival of the new low discharge Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. Which is also great for the environment. I have very few left of the old batteries since I started to replace all of them with low discharge batteries. Eneloops and Duracell are 2 of the best of its kind.
Pros:
+ Low discharge, long shelf life.
+ Excellent quality product. Well constructed
+ Conventional size and dimension. I had other batteries that I have to use a screwdriver to remove from my camera because it is fatter than other "AA's".
+ Regular charger included (You can also use your existing NiMh charger for these batteries)
+ Sleek and sexy design
Cons:
- The charger requires batteries to be charged in pairs.
- More expensive than ordinary NiMh
- Still not available in many stores
- Rated at 2100 mAh. (But regularly holds charge more than 2100mAh.)

I love Eneloop May 27, 2010

I am a photographer and I use multiple flash units in a wireless system, each requires 4AA. Out of all AA batteries I've tried, these seem to work the best as far as longevity goes. I get the most shots with my flashes when using these.

eneloop batterys Nov 17, 2009
By hlee one problem with most rechargable batteries is that they are always dead when you need them .. thats caused by self discharge ..you cant realize the full capacity of your batteries unless you charge them just before using them .. when i found eneloop i couldnt understand why they were not headline news .. what a pleasure to charge your flashlight and just leave it in the car or a drawer for months and still have it work when you need it ... grab your camera to take that once in a lifetime shot and of course its dead .. with the eneloop it will still work even after months of just sitting .. you can charge the eneloops weeks or months in advance of needing them and still get full capacity .. i sure wish my cordless drill had such a battery .. sorry if i sound like a commercial but i am just a retired engineer and i really am very happy with the eneloops .. we are using them everywhere we can .. the new LED flashlights love them .. even the color of the battery is a good idea .. its cover design is such that you will never confuse it with throw away batteries ..(i have lost a few other brands that way).. sanyo has done a good job on this battery .. i cant imagine anyone being unhappy with it ..

What would I do without my eneloop batteries? Jul 26, 2010
By Samuel Leathers Charger's great. I thought about buying one of the nice recommended chargers for eneloop batteries, but when I got this in the mail I figured I'd try it before shelling out any more cash. Well, it does the job. Charges batteries quickly. I haven't timed it, but maybe 4 hours? I have 16 of these batteries and just rotate them through the charger after a trip. And the batteries themselves are amazing in my camera!

By Anthony Seriously.. If you are a photographer, you should be carring these things. Just wish it could charge a little quicker.
