New Favorite Flashlight Jun 25, 2011
By goody99 I use a flashlight every night, so I'm always on the lookout for the best (light beam) and convenient to use. I have tried many, both filament bulb and led. To date I always wound up relying on my Maglite (filament) 3D cell. Not anymore, I LOVE this compact little flashlight. Most importantly its performance surpasses the Maglite. The light beam has the same reach and is brighter, whiter, and much wider. Had to replace the batteries on the Maglite about twice a year. Have had to replace the batteries on the Rayovac about the same. But since the Rayovac uses 3 AAA cells, as opposed to the Maglite's 3 D cells, the cost is much cheaper. I have since bought 3 more of these lights, one for the car and two for the house for emergencies. I recommended this flashlight to a bunch of my family who live in "tornado alley". They "saw the light". Thus far 9 of them have purchased 15 of these flashlights. I also use this light for camping and have been asked by two fellow campers what kind of light, how much it costs and where can I get one. Try one for yourself, you won't be sorry. Mark

For the money, great flashlight!!! May 06, 2010
By R.S. These lights are pretty bright (but they obviously do not compare to tactical-style lights such as surefire or the nuflare with over 200 lumens). Their two modes are great too. The low mode (click the tail cap button once) is good enough for map reading or in a dark tent etc. and will make the batteries last longer. The high mode (click the tail cap button a second time) is great for walking around and times when you need more light.
They seem really well made, and are comfortable to hold. For the money, I don't know if you can beat these lights (as long as you're not looking for a tactical light to disorient an attacker etc.).
The light is slightly blue in color but pretty good. There is a bright spot in the middle and then two more concentric rings of decreasing brightness around the main focus.
The only negative that I have noticed so far is that there seems to be a slight difference in brightness between the two exact flashlights I bought, so that could be a bad sign for their quality control. But that hasn't manifested itself into any other problems in the ones that I have. Again, they're $14, so don't expect a $200 tactical light. But for the price, I think these are the best and brightest everyday (non-tactical) flashlights I own!

Mini Flashlight with a Mighty Beam Jan 14, 2012
By Nicole B I am totally sold on aluminum-bodied LED flashlights. They are brighter, lighter and the batteries last longer than traditional flashlights. The Rayovac Sportsman XTREME Mini High powered LED Flashlight is a great flashlight for taking on camping trips or anywhere you find yourself needing to light up the night. The size of the flashlight itself may be small, but don't let it fool you - this flashlight is BRIGHT and can throw a beam up to 154 feet!
It's a great size for travel or even for stashing around the house. It's the perfect size for kids, too.

Great flashlight, terrible packaging Dec 27, 2011
By Andrew Nice and powerful flashlight. It's got a good hefty feel to it, reminiscent of the times that maglights could be used as weapons. Batteries are included (3xAAA) and a useless belt thing. A solid 5 star for the flashlight...
...minus 1 star for the packaging. Geezus, you need a lightsaber to open this thing. Amazon needs to make some frustration-free packaging for this immediately.

Great little flashlight Jan 23, 2011

I didn't get a chance to test out the battery life, but this is a nice compact sturdy little flashlight that puts out some serious light. If you're planning on using it to avoid turning the lights on and waking someone up, you may want to reconsider ;)
