3Cost effective, but the theatre lights don't turn off.  Feb 13, 2009 By lighten_up_already2 "lighten_up_already2"
Firt of all, I got this bulk pack elsewhere for way less, so shop around.

Second, the theatre lights, which are the really cool looking ones that aren't too harsh to look at, never turn off in response to the overhead lights being turned on. The only way I can get those to turn off is to shine a flashlight right into the light sensor.

Third, the other design switches on a off perfectly, but the light is very cold and harsh to look at. Whatever a candle is, think the opposite and you'll get the idea of what these look like. However, if you like the ambience of a starship running on emergency power, you'll love these.

Still, the price is right, and they do allow me to turn off some much more power hungry lights at night without stumbling around the house.

Oh yeah, about the theatre lights again: these are just tall enough so that if I plug them directly into my wall outlet in the top plug, they render the bottom useless, and if I plug them into the bottom plug, they make it impossible to plug a three-prong plug into the top plug.

So, you get what you pay for. If you want bang per buck, this is your ticket. If you want warm and cozy, look elsewhere.

4Easy fix for Theatre lights  Jan 10, 2010 By Tavares Davis
The other reviewers are correct in saying there are problems with the theatre lights staying on all the time, but there is an easy fix. All you have to do is open the product and CAREFULLY trim the black plastic housing covering the light sensor. After I did that, the theatre lights worked perfectly! I rate this product 4 out of 5 because I had to fix a problem that should have been taken care of at the factory.

I suspect more of these products will be sold now that there is a fix for the lights. Will I get a discount on all future purchases? Hmm? LOL

5WOW! What a Great Deal  Apr 03, 2009 By J. Rogers
I can not believe what a great deal this is. If anything the lites are more bright then I expected, but they may dim down after they are broken in. The on off switch works perfect on them. It only cost 27 cents a year to run them? I think I can afford that. I love to walk around the house at night but I do not like to turn the lights on. So I have these lights in every socket I can find to put a night light in. In fact my wife use to have to leave the kitchen light on when she went to work in the morning and now she can turn it off without having to double back. This is as good of a deal as your ever going to get. Now all they need to do is add a battery and a solar charger for the perfect light. But at 27 cents a year they are already as inexpensive as they are going to get. Esp as long lasting as they are it will be a long time before I will have to change them out.

5Great lights for a great price!  Apr 25, 2009 By Thomas Ludwick
These are great night lights, especially for the price. As a previous reviewer wrote, the theater lights stay on all the time. The reason for this is the light sensor is mounted too far back in the housing. Nevertheless, all lights give off a cool blue glow and provide just enough light. The best part is they cost pennies a year to operate!

4wrong math?  Jul 10, 2010 By Lombard Street
The product description says: "These LED Nightlights will save you $312 in energy cost per pack per year. (As compared to using standard 7 watt incandescent nightlights at 12 cents per kWh.)"

However, the maximum power consumption of eight 7 watt incandescent nightlights is 8 * 0.007Kw * 24 hours * 365 days * $0.12= $58.9/year.

So $58.9 is the maximum amount you can save even if the LED nightlights consume zero energy.
