Dont Buy This Sep 08, 2010 I had one of these flashlights a couple of years ago. It didnt work with the car I had at the time. I recently changed cars and bought this again. The light is bright blue when I pluged it in but after a few minutes it fades out until there is no blue light left. Half the point of this flashlight is the blue glow when you are charging it.
On the only plus note it does bring an adapter for outlets that are too big.
Brilliant but brief. Jun 27, 2010 An excellent little light. Amazingly bright and very handy--and very well made. The only caveat: the battery life is quite short. Don't expect to take it with you anywhere other than your car. Despite this, its performance is exemplary for its intended task--searching around the inside of your car in the dark. You could probably even get away with changing a tire, if you didn't dally. Plus, it recharges with even greater swiftness, so this defect is, to my mind, adequately offset.
Oh, and it apparently doesn't fit all cigarette lighters, but it works flawlessly with my Toyota Celica and comes with an adapter.
It Works. Jun 14, 2010 Don't worry about the product title, you won't get a knife (at least I didn't :P). Sadly, my Toyota Camry also didn't have the right size lighter socket HOWEVER, this LED came with an adapter that made it work. The adapter is a plastic, 2" long (roughly), cylindrical, and sticks out an inch or so when in use, but it's black so it won't attract too much attention. Owned this Coast for a few weeks now, it's easy to use and is plenty bright. Random fact: it will ONLY glow blue if it is charging (I wish it stayed glowing blue, it just looks SO COOL). Also random: tried it on my friend's Toyota Hybrid, didn't work for the lighter socket closer to the dashboard but it fit perfectly on the one inside the armrest storage compartment. There should be an exhaustive list of car brands + models whose lighter socket fits.... for now, don't expect it to, just imagine it jutting out with a black plastic adapter before you buy it.
Nice, quick light Jun 03, 2010 This is the perfect little light to keep in my truck. Glows blue when turned off & charging. I own a couple of Coast's lights & have been happy with them all. This led light is very bright. It is perfect to have on hand when you need to throw a bit of light on something quick. I would like to see them come out with one that either has a dual white/red led or just a red led, so you do't kill your night vision at night. The package has a cigarette light adapter, battery pack & light.
Pros: price, quality, size, rechargeable
Cons: no on/off button [it is a twist on/off], uses a white led [not so great with night vision]
If you need a quick little rechargeable light, I would recommend this.
disappointing Jun 01, 2010 While the flashlight itself is very bright, it is the charging of this product that causes me to give such a negative review. Like most people, I assumed that I wouldn't need to look at the instructions for anything more than to double check which way to insert the rechargeable battery. However, I changed my mind when I could not get the Auto LED to hold a charge. Turns out that the flashlight must be turned on (very annoying if your outlet points in your general direction) AND it should be charged for five full hours for the first five charges. For me these charging requirements alone negate any benefits of this flashlight which is why I am returning it ASAP.
I wanted to like the Auto LED. I really did. But I simply cannot recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the annoyance and just grab a regular small flashlight from your favorite retailer or online merchant.
