Great bottle! Plastic is the thing we are trying to avoid and its hard to find a bottle which has non-plastic cap. This caps' stainless bottom eliminated our concern. Only stainless steel has contact with water.

Got the set from Costco few weeks ago. The bottles are very heavy duty quality stainless steel, but the caps are composed of two parts--the top is plastic, the bottom part is stainless steel. Once water gets trapped inside the caps, yes, it happened to both caps, so they are definitely going back to Costco.

These bottles are very well made, but there is a metal odor and the water tastes like metal too. I am going to return it.

I bought a pair from Costco and wish it also comes in an 8 oz size to go into lunch totes as well. I didn't notice any metalic taste...unless it's what I thought to be a crisp, clean taste instead. I prefer this rather than the plastic taste in my water (Albertson, Walmart & Stater Brothers bottled waters) I like the wide mouth that allows me to easily put in ice cubes and to wash it with a bottle brush.

Only down side is that one of the bottles from the pair has a loose top. The top is made of 2 pieces, a plastic outer/top portion and metal inside portion. The 2 materials are loose from each other so that when I turn to open it, the plastic part just spins, keeping the metal part still screwed on. I really like the metal inside of the top, which I don't find in many of the metal water bottles.

I still like this product and uses it often.

I've had no issues with the plastic top in over 2 years of use. These are well made, sturdy bottles and can take a lot of abuse. I have no dents just light scuff marks. The top seal is great, and has maintained through multiple dishwasher cleanings. These things have been knocked around in my car empty after being used at the gym and they've survived just fine.
