| | Description | 2nd Gen 1500 eneloop 2-AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with "D" Spacer
The new SEC-NCSD2AAN eneloop "D" spacer kit with 2 AA batteries utilizes SANYO's advanced rechargeable battery technology allowing them to last longer than ever before! They provide excellent performance-to-cost advantages over both conventional alkaline and other rechargeable batteries. Unlike disposable batteries which can only be used only once and are wasteful to the environment, the new eneloop batteries can be recharged up to 1,500 times. They come pre-charged, can be used immediately out of the pack and maintain 75% of their charge for up to 3 years when not in use. Eneloop batteries deliver reliable battery performance when you need it the most! | |

Great idea, but . . . Jan 08, 2012
By Jamie Kenyon I loved the idea behind the "D" spacer, thinking I could use these in my flashlights. Two major design flaws. 1. The plus end fits into the sleeve and snaps lightly (emphasis on lightly) into place. However, there is nothing holding the AA in at the bottom of the sleeve. So, I put these spacers/AAs into the flashlight, the AA battery pops back out of the sleeve and slides right into the hole in the spring (that would normally make contact with the minus end of the battery. No contact). 2. There is nothing on the bottom of the spacer to widen the contact point for the AA battery, so that, even if it didn't slide out of the sleeve, it still wouldn't work because the surface of the AA isn't wide enough to make contact with the bottom of the spring on the flashlight. Now I suppose if I had some item in which I wanted to use the AA/D battery sleeve and the stated item had a solid, unbroken surface contact for the minus end, it would work fine. No such luck.

By T. Saves us big bucks from buying D size batteries. It lasts about the same as a regular D size battery.
A Man's Got to Know his Batteries' Limitations May 15, 2012
By NLee the Engineer The two rechargeable batteries in this package (Sanyo NEW 1500 eneloop 2-AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with "D" Spacer) are the best-quality low-self-discharge NiMH cells currently available. The two spacers are made of high quality plastic without any rough edges, and they looked great. The price is also very reasonable. So normally I would call this a good deal. However, if you intend to use them in appliances that accept D-cells, please beware of the following limitations:
1. The capacity of each eneloop AA cell is just 2,000mAh. In contrast, capacity of a typical alkaline D-cell (such as the Energizer E95) is rated at around 20,000mAh when delivering a low current of 50mA. For a larger load current of 500mA, its capacity drops to around 10,000mAh. Still, this is five times the capacity of eneloop AA cell. What this means is that: you need to remove and recharge your eneloop cells five times more frequently, compared to when using alkaline D cells.
2. The base of the D-spacer is hollow. It uses the negative terminal of the AA cell for contact. The battery compartment designed for normal D-cells typically have much larger springs, so the base of the AA cell may fail to make contact with the spring. Check the picture I uploaded to the Customer Image section, and you'll see what I mean. This problem can often be solved by inserting a copper penny or nickel between the battery base and the spring. But it does not always work.
There are some other rechargeable D-cell options available. For example, consider the Rayovac Platinum LSD NiMH D cells. This package is currently priced similar to the eneloop package, but it gives you two real D-sized cells, with 50% higher capacity (3000mAh vs 2000mAh). The down-side is that you'll need a battery charger that can handle D-cells.
If longest run time is your first priority, then consider buying full-capacity D cells such as the 9500mAh IMEDION D Rechargeable Batteries. Those are priced 3-4x higher, and you need an expensive charger that can handle full-capacity D-cells. (Most low-cost chargers cannot fully recharge cells with capacity over 3000mAh)
No matter which option you pick, using rechargeable batteries will save you money in the long run. You just have to know your batteries' limitations, and set your expectation accordingly.
These are GREAT !! May 06, 2012
By RODERICK VARGAS Wasnt sure if the "inserts" for the D cell batteries would hold up to same "life" of regular D batteries but they sure do seem to...... easy to recharge and convienient .......
eneloop batteries Nov 08, 2011
By Anna Marie Stern Fast delivery and no damage upon arrival. Converts AA's to D's with a lot less weight, great that they are ready to use. Like that they last longer than other brands of rechargeables. Have purchased other sizes and a charger, will get more when needs, great batteries.
